Amazon Brings Renewable Energy to NC

By the end of 2016, Amazon will debut the first utility-scale wind farm in North Carolina.  Construction is well under way in Perquimans and Pasquotank counties in eastern North Carolina on what will eventually be a 208-megwatt wind farm called Amazon Wind Farm US East.  With 150 workers already on the project, it is anticipated that turbine erection will begin in June of 2016 and by the end of the year, the wind farm should be able to generate enough energy to power more than 61,000 homes.  Avangrid Renewables, based out of New Gloucester, Maine, is tasked with bringing the massive project to life, which includes the construction of nearly 60 miles of road.
