Shaw University Awarded Grant for Innovation Center
Raleigh’s own Shaw University was awarded a $50,000.00 grant from the Annie C. Casey Foundation to expand its innovation and entrepreneurship program. Shaw University, along with the Carolina Small Business Development Fund, first opened the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in downtown Raleigh to “inspire, connect, encourage, and support startups, students and existing entrepreneurs.” The University says it will use the grant funds to “expand programming offerings for entrepreneurs and service more clients.” The Annie C. Casey Foundation is a private philanthropy whose mission is “to create brighter future of the nation’s children by developing solutions to strengthen families, build paths to economic opportunity and transform struggling communicates into safer and healthier places to live, work and grow”. Congratulations to Shaw University.
