Hannah Sheridan & Cochran attorneys have noticed a growing public need for information relating to voting in North Carolina.  As a service to our community, we are committed to providing non-partisan North Carolina voting information to our clients, colleagues, and friends during the coming months.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections website provides helpful resources for all North Carolina voters, regardless of political affiliation.

Government officials estimate that up to 40% of North Carolina voters will submit their ballots via mail in 2020.  Voters may request an absentee mail ballot now until Tuesday, October 27, 2020 via mail or the North Carolina Absentee Ballot Request Portal.  Further information relating to voting during the 2020 pandemic may be found by viewing the below video interview with the North Carolina State Board of Elections Chair Damon Circosta.

North Carolina voters may submit their 2020 ballots by one of three methods (further information available via links):

• Absentee voting by-mail
• Voting at one-stop early voting sites across your county   Remember Same-Day Registration During Early Voting: Individuals who are not registered to vote in a county may register at early voting sites during the early voting period.  After registering, the newly registered voter can immediately vote at that same site.
• Election Day voting at your assigned polling place

Important Dates for North Carolina Voters:

September 4th – Mailing of Absentee Ballots

October 15th – Start of Early Voting for 2020 General Election

October 27th – Absentee By-Mail Ballot Request Deadline

October 31st – End of Early Voting for 2020 General Election

November 3rd – Election Day
